Update #3
My family is originally from Thanjavur, India. I was born in Chennai. I grew up in New Delhi. We were an immigrant Tamil family living in Delhi for many years. My parents did their best to make sure we never lost touch with our Tamil cultural roots.
When I got married, I immigrated to the USA. When we became parents, it was the same story all over again. We wanted to make sure our children did not lose touch with their Indian and Tamil cultural roots. The video is of our daughter, Matangi, playing the violin a year or so into her learning it. There are about 20-30 people sitting in front encouraging her. If not for that community, she would have given up the violin a long time ago.
It takes a community to support each other on this journey. So please join and support Ra-Ve to keep this community alive! THANK YOU!
Why I started Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation in Northwest Arkansas!! :)
Sustaining Culture, Strengthening Community, Securing the Future
In a rapidly evolving world, preserving cultural traditions is more crucial than ever. Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation (Ra-Ve) plays a vital role in Northwest Arkansas by ensuring that Indian performing arts continue to thrive and enrich our diverse community. Through our programs, we provide a space where traditions are honored, artists are nurtured, and audiences of all backgrounds can engage with the beauty and depth of Indian classical and folk arts. However, sustaining this mission requires ongoing community support and investment.
Why Organizations Like Ra-Ve Matter
Indian performing arts are not just forms of entertainment—they are living traditions that carry deep historical, spiritual, and artistic significance. These art forms serve as a bridge between generations, connecting individuals to their heritage while fostering a greater appreciation among the larger community.
In Northwest Arkansas, Ra-Ve is a beacon of cultural preservation and education, bringing world-class artists, offering enriching educational experiences, and creating opportunities for local talent. Without organizations like ours, these invaluable traditions risk being lost over time, depriving future generations of their cultural roots.
How You Can Support Ra-Ve
To continue this important work, we rely on the support of individuals like you. One of the most impactful ways to contribute is by becoming a Sustaining Member. Ensuring Cultural Preservation for the Next Generation
Educating the next generation about Indian performing arts is a core part of Ra-Ve’s mission. By exposing children and young adults to these art forms, we instill a deep appreciation for cultural heritage while fostering creativity and discipline. Our programs in schools, universities, and community spaces introduce young minds to the richness of Indian music, dance, and theater, ensuring that these traditions remain relevant and accessible.
The Importance of Educating the Larger Community
Cultural exchange is a powerful tool for building understanding and unity. By educating the broader Northwest Arkansas community about Indian performing arts, we create opportunities for cross-cultural appreciation and dialogue. Ra-Ve actively collaborates with local schools, universities, and other organizations to integrate Indian arts into mainstream cultural discussions, promoting inclusivity and diversity.
