Joseph's 2025 Campaign to Keep NWA Pride Thriving

As I celebrate 20 years of serving Northwest Arkansas' LGBTQ community—15 of those with NWA Equality—my journey from volunteer fundraising at drag shows to board president and now full-time leadership has been nothing short of an honor.

This is my 14th NWA Pride Weekend, and through all the growth and challenges, I've been this event's constant factor, changemaker, and caretaker. I've watched NWA Pride grow from 400 people to 40,000—proving that visibility and support matter. For those 14 years, I've dedicated countless hours enhancing the parade and festival experience, boosting tourism, streamlining logistics, and bringing the right people together to make it all happen year after year. I personally fundraised to purchase the largest marching Pride flag west of the Mississippi River and one of the largest trans flags in the world. I created the Youth Zone, the Trans March, and Glitterville, and I brought our first national act—Trixie Mattel—in 2016. Every step has been an uphill battle, but a labor of love and service.

This is my story, but it isn't really about me. It's about us. NWA Pride is our political statement, our movement, and our celebration. And we cannot back down.

Now, it's at risk. Due to political pressure, corporate sponsors are pulling out, threatening the future of Arkansas' largest LGBTQ event. For over two decades, NWA Pride has been a symbol of visibility, expression, community, and a safe space for thousands. Today, we need your support to protect it.
