What is NWA Gives?
NWA Gives launched in the spring of 2018, hosting its inaugural Day of Giving on April 5th, 2018. Inspired by the generosity of Northwest Arkansas and the potential to spark even greater community support, NWA Gives invited strategic partners to help grow the initiative. Over the past seven years, NWA Gives has raised over $4.6 million for local nonprofits.
A key focus of NWA Gives is providing fundraising training and resources to nonprofits, helping them build stronger connections with financial partners. As these organizations enhance their fundraising capacity, they are better equipped to meet the needs of our community.
Our vision is to make Northwest Arkansas one of the most generous communities on earth.
NWA Gives is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, led by the NWA Gives Board of Directors.
How does it work?
On April 3rd, 2025, NWA Gives will host a 12-hour giving event encouraging charitable donations through our online giving platform, nwagives.org.
NWA Gives will provide toolkits, training sessions, outreach support, mass media and social media coverage to make it easy for all nonprofits to participate. There is a registration fee to participants in accordance with your organization's budget size. See the registration page for full details.
NWA Gives is excited to be working with our technical partner, Mightycause, to create an easier experience for our nonprofit partners. Each participating organization will have an individualized web page to promote their cause. You will not need to create a new webpage in subsequent years.
Individuals will be able to donate money to the nonprofit organizations of their choice on April 3rd, 2025 to have gifts count towards the Day of Giving. All donations are tax deductible. Donors will receive a receipt for their gift. The nonprofit will receive contact information for each donor.
What should I do if I need help?
Start by submitting a help request at https://support.mightycause.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?
During NWA Gives, the total transaction fees are 6.2% + $0.30, and donors have the option to cover these fees to ensure the nonprofit receives 100% of their intended contribution. Donors will be encouraged to cover these fees but have the option to opt out if desired.
For donations over $50, the website will give you the option of submitting payment through your bank account. This could save you and/or the benefiting organization on the credit card transaction fees. For donors that give via their bank account, credit card processing fees will be replaced by a 1% transaction fee, plus a $1.50 fixed fee per transaction (total ACH processing fees will be capped at $5.00) The platform and brand fee still apply.
All donations are final and cannot be refunded. All donations on nwagives.org are made to the Mightycause Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that permits donors to advise a regranting of their donations to qualified charitable organizations.
You can use the NWA Gives site to donate to your favorite nonprofits year round! Fees outside of the NWA Gives event reflect a 4% platform fee, 0.5% brand fee and 2.9% + $0.30 credit card processing fee on all donations. Donors will continue to have the option to cover the fees on a year-round basis.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Donations can be made via debit card, credit card, PayPal, ApplePay, Venmo, Google Pay, and ACH through www.nwagives.org. MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express will be accepted.
How do I set up a Matching Grant?
You have several options! Take a look at your choices and follow the Mightycause instructions here.
Please note that you will want to make sure "include match value in page metrics" is not checked within the match set up tool. This will allow your match to count towards your leaderboard total once it's met and not double count on your NWA Gives campaign. If your match sponsors are willing to pay the match online, great! Their matching dollars will be included in your leaderboard totals only if they submit their matching dollars online through your NWA Gives campaign. If your match sponsors would rather pay by check, great! You can enter in their match amount as an offline donation once the system notifies you that the match has been met. Please note that any match dollars submitted as an offline donation will not reflect on your leaderboard totals. Leaderboards for NWA Gives will only reflect online dollars raised.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation?
The minimum donation for NWA Gives is $5. There is no maximum donation limit.
Can donors make NWA Gives donations early?
Yes! Starting at 8am on March 27, 2025, donors will be able to make their donations, while still having it count toward NWA Gives. You can also donate to organizations on the site year-round, though only donations from March 27 - April 3 count towards Day of Giving totals.
Cash and check donations can be entered manually at any time during the early giving period (as well as on the giving day) and will count towards your overall total on your NWA Gives campaign page. Please note that the giving day leaderboards will only reflect online donations.
NWA Gives reserves the right to request a copy of checks or cash donation receipts for validation purposes.
Who is able to participate?
Any organization classified as a 501c3 or a unit of government (such as a library) that serves one of our 7 counties (Benton, Washington, Carroll, Madison, Crawford, Franklin or Sebastian) is eligible to participate in NWA Gives.

In general, electronic dispersals through Mightycause happen twice per month, on a consistent schedule of the 10th and 25th of each month as follows:

Checks: Disbursements via check are sent on the 10th of each month for all funds received in the prior month. Checks incur a $5 fee, please consider signing up for EFT which does not incur a fee.
Can I use my page to process event/training registrations, offer giving incentives, etc.?
No. Mightycause terms and conditions prohibit use of the platform for donation giveaways/incentives or other sellable items in return for making a donation. The platform also may not be used for sale-based transactions such as event or training registrations where funds are given in exchange for a good or service. The platform may only be used for charitable donations in line with IRS regulations. For questions contact support@mightycause.com..
Are there any tips and tricks I should be aware of when setting up my organization's profile?
Here are a few we think might be helpful based on what we're hearing from nonprofits so far:
- How to add another site administrator or user
- Can I copy and paste text from other places? Yes, but you cannot copy and paste in pictures. This will not save and will result in errors - you must upload pictures to the site, you cannot paste them in.
