Welcome to Garden Day Getaway: A Sanctuary in Nature

At Garden Day Getaway, we believe in creating a space where seniors and veterans can enjoy

the simple pleasures of nature, relax, and rejuvenate. Located in the heart of Fayetteville, AR,

our private outdoor retreat offers a haven away from the noise and pace of everyday life.

Designed with accessibility and safety in mind, Garden Day Getaway provides a comfortable,

welcoming place for seniors and veterans to spend meaningful time outdoors. 

We serve seniors from assisted living facilities as well as veterans from the Veterans House and

VA-organized groups. Visitors come in small, chaperoned outings, typically with 20 people or

fewer, and are transported by their facility or group organizer. During their visit, guests can

garden, walk the trails, play gentle outdoor games like croquet, horseshoes, or baggo, listen to

music in the pavilion, or simply sit and enjoy the fresh air.

Every visit to Garden Day Getaway is provided at no cost to the seniors & veterans

groups we serve, made possible entirely through the generosity of donors like you.

How Seniors and Veterans Benefit from Garden Day Getaway

For many seniors in assisted living and veterans groups, opportunities to spend meaningful time

outdoors are limited. Garden Day Getaway provides a safe, welcoming space where they can

step outside their routine and reconnect with nature in a peaceful setting.

Time in the garden offers important physical, emotional, and social benefits. Gentle activities

like walking the trails, tending plants, or playing light outdoor games encourage movement

without strain. Fresh air, sunshine, and natural surroundings help improve mood, reduce

anxiety, and support overall well-being.

Beyond the physical benefits, the garden creates a place for connection and joy. Seniors and

Veterans can share conversations, laugh with friends, listen to music, and participate in simple

activities that bring back familiar memories. Planting vegetables or flowers often reminds them

of earlier seasons of life, helping spark stories, memories, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The space is intentionally designed to be calm, accessible, and safe, allowing visitors to relax

without the stress or noise of a busy environment. Whether they are gardening, sitting in the

pavilion, or simply enjoying the breeze under the shade of a tree, visitors are given something

many rarely experience, unhurried time in nature.

These visits are more than just outings. They provide moments of peace, dignity, connection,

and enjoyment that can brighten days and improve overall quality of life.

This NWA Gives, we are raising $20,000 to operate the garden for the entire year.

Due to our limited scale, NWA Gives is our public fundraising event and your gift matters

greatly. Your gift directly supports the care and availability of this special space for seniors and

veterans in our community.

100% of all donations go directly to the operations, maintenance, and use of the garden.

This includes property rental, insurance, the reservation website, utilities, pest control, and the

ongoing care of the garden. Staff salaries are provided outside of donations, so every dollar you

give goes straight into keeping the garden open and accessible for seniors and veterans.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide peaceful, joyful outdoor experiences for

seniors and veterans across Northwest Arkansas.
