Reach UP is an innovative magazine whose target readership is the 21.4 million women who live below the line of poverty in Northwest Arkansas and throughout the U. S. No publishing giant has ever taken on the challenges of marketing to this group, often described as marginalized.
Our drive at Reach UP is creative empowerment for women. Articles offer practical training – education in an engaging format - for mind, body and soul, family and work relations and more. Not bound by a profit margin business model, RU uses a non-traditional distribution approach. Reach UP supplies other nonprofits who work directly with this neglected audience with print magazines FREE of charge. We come alongside their work with supplemental resources providing that “second voice” to their clients. Directors appreciate the discussion questions that are included in each shipment.
What about the women? Emily E. answers that question in a letter she wrote from a transitional program. “I really enjoy your magazine and was hoping to tell you all a little bit of my story, … I was thrown out of a truck by my husband mangling and deforming my left arm, I lost custody of my children, I lost my father in ’12 to a heart attack caused from fentanyl. I just wanted to say, ‘Keep up the good work and thank you.’”
Reach UP’s team of volunteers believe that Emily and the hundreds of thousands like her deserve to be encouraged and have a place to tell their story. That safe place is on Reach UP’s readers website, MyReachUP.org. There Reach UP offers searchable written and oral formats of the life-transformational magazines and articles, video Empowerment Series, as well as a page to submit their own life stories.
Reach UP reader Debbie L. says, “When I read Reach UP for the first time … I felt accepted and comfortable, not judged or looked down upon. It, and MyReachUP.org, was filled with practical advice I was expected to know but I never learned because of surviving on the streets. It makes me know there’s somebody out there who understands and I’m not alone. That’s valuable! I love Reach UP magazine and the website too!”
Colorful and aesthetically pleasing, Reach UP magazine is published in English and Spanish. Currently the distribution footprint is @14,000 copies to over 180 nonprofits nationwide, including some in Northwest Arkansas. Reach UP is donor supported and faith-based and organizations are encouraged to help with shipping if they can.
Recently relocated to Northwest Arkansas, Reach UP looks forward to providing more local nonprofits organizations with this free life transformational magazine.
