A Place to Heal

Arkansas’ First Medical Respite Program for People Experiencing Homelessness

Just Imagine

Imagine recovering from surgery…

In a tent.

With no running water.

Washing your stitches in a creek.

That was the only option for many people in Northwest Arkansas—until A Place to Heal opened.

A Place to Heal

A Place to Heal is a medical respite program built by New Beginnings in partnership with Washington Regional Medical Center. It’s the first and only program of its kind in Arkansas, offering a safe, supportive space where people without housing can recover from illness or injury after a hospital stay. Plus, A Place to Heal offers internship opportunities for medical and nursing students at the University of Arkansas and John Brown University.

Last year, this neighborhood of four medical cabins provided healing for 19 patients. This year, we aim to serve 40 people—and we need your help to do it.

“It’s a God-Sent Gift to Our Community”

“I have personally readmitted patients because they had no safe place to recover—no way to finish treatment, no therapies, no support. A Place to Heal has changed that. It gives our patients a chance to truly recover—and thrive.”

— Dr. Mike Bolding, Hospitalist, Washington Regional
