Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic
$25 Raised
The NWA Humane Society for Animals was founded in 1963 and was one of the first non-profit shelters in NWA, and we are now one of the last. Most shelters in the area are run and funded by cities or municipalities. We are completely funded by our great local donors and supporting companies.
All of our animals come from Benton County, along the 20,000 miles of country roads. Benton County borders on Oklahoma and Missouri, which do not have any animal control, so many of those animals end up in our shelter (dogs don't recognize state lines). We typically take in 800 dogs in a year!
When animals come into our shelter, they have a health evaluation, are wormed, vaccinated and spayed or neutered, all for a $70 adoption fee!
It is because of our tremendous support from our donors and fundraisers in the community that make our mission possible. We recently built a debt-free $1.3M shelter building on donations that average $30!
And we are not done yet! Our future includes a Transport Hub (coming Fall 2024) - which will facilitate moving animals from over-crowded shelters to areas of the country where spay and neuter laws have left the shelters with few adoptable pets. The Transport Hub will provide a safe place for drivers and animals to stretch their legs, for the drivers to rest and wake up to a van that is loaded and ready to go, so the driver can concentrate on driving. Longer term, we are planning for a Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic for anyone in our community who needs the services. We also hope to assist Veterans and Seniors on fixed budgets with veterinary care for their animals.
We are great stewards of our donations, all of the donations go directly to the care and rehoming of our precious animals. We appreciate every single donor and donation, no matter how large or small.
