We see that community helpers work hard but continually face overwhelm and burnout, causing breakdowns in vital community systems and leaving these systems and our helpers in crisis.

Our mission is to help the helpers build resilient communities so that we can prevent this crisis! We do this through trauma-informed counseling, training, and consulting - helping these helpers stay strong in their mission so they can keep going.

We're asking for your support for NWA Gives for T.I.E.R.S., our NWA public schools program. Help us provide resilience to directly combat this stress on teachers so they can launch NWA’s future leaders with everything they need.

Trauma is an event or experience that overwhelms our capacity to cope.

These are traumas teachers in YOUR community face every single day:

  • 48.35% free/reduced lunch (*big 4 average*)
  • 450+ kids in foster care (*estimation based on latest statistics*)
  • 1 in 5 boys and 1 in 3 girls will experience sexual abuse before the age of 18
  • Not to mention: the post-Covid impact, rising neurodiversity

understanding and diagnoses, and increased academic and social pressure.

Teachers are:

  • Burning out and leaving their jobs at an alarming rate.
  • Buckling under the stress of being asked to carry more and more.
  • Engaging the impact of trauma in their students without the equipping and training they need.

Research shows, the quality of our education system directly impacts:

  • our future work force
  • incarceration, unemployment, and homelessness rates
  • the overall health of the community at large

Sadly, There is no other trauma-informed program going directly toward the schools responsible for educating our next generation in NWA.

With T.I.E.R.S., we are working directly with teachers and administrators to:

  • increase staff care and resiliency
  • build trauma-informed student supports, policies, and procedures

Because when teachers feel supported, properly resourced, and better prepared to face the difficulties of caring for kids from hard places, they can... stand resiliently and stay in the fight longer.
