"Are you concerned about childhood poverty? The greatest determinant of a child's educational success is the literacy of their parents. Help eliminate poverty by supporting Dogwood Literacy Council."
When Euphrasie first came to Euphrasie and her daughtersDogwood Literacy Council, she faced overwhelming challenges. Simple tasks like reading letters from her children’s school or scheduling a doctor’s appointment felt impossible. As a mother of five, she wanted to be more independent and support her family better but didn’t know where to start.
Through our free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, Euphrasie found the support she needed. Offered Monday through Thursday from 9–11 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6–8 p.m., these classes gave her the skills to read, write, and communicate confidently. Today, she can manage daily tasks on her own and support her children’s education.
Beyond ESL, we also partner with NWACC to offer GED classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5–8 p.m. We also provide digital literacy classes to teach skills like using email, applying for jobs online, and navigating technology, as well as health literacy classes to help individuals access medical resources and services.
These programs are free to our students, but they aren’t possible without community support. When you give to Dogwood Literacy Council, you’re helping adults like Euphrasie gain the tools they need to succeed, care for their families, and contribute to the community.
