Founded in 2016, Canopy NWA exists because our community believed then and still believes now that welcome should last longer than arrival. Over the past 10 years, Canopy has supported almost 1,000 refugees as they rebuild their lives, find stability, and grow roots in Northwest Arkansas.

At the heart of this work is The Long Welcome, a promise to walk alongside individuals and families for up to five years after arrival. Through holistic support including career advancement, entrepreneurship, youth development, maternal health, anti-trafficking services, and meaningful community connections, The Long Welcome transforms generosity into lasting impact, guiding new neighbors from survival toward stability, belonging, and opportunity.

The Long Welcome is more than a program, it is a celebration of our shared community.

Canopy NWA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 2016 by Northwest Arkansas residents who sought to create a place of refuge for people fleeing persecution due to race, membership in a particular social group, political opinion, religion, or national origin.
